The Hummer mystery buyer has been revealed as… Chinese Industrial firm Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company Ltd. – Try saying THAT three times fast. The firm closed a deal to secretly purchase Hummer from General Motors yesterday. Best news of all, Tengzhong says it plans on keeping Hummer’s current management team – no layoffs for you folks!
Both companies plan on closing a deal by September, and stated this “will allow Hummer to better meet demand for new products such as more fuel-efficient vehicles in the U.S.” There are talks about expanding the line up and even keeping the Shreveport, La., plant open and building Hummers for the new owner until at least 2010.
