Hummer’s Chinese owners are planning to change the public’s perception through the launch of two new fuel-efficient models. Per the terms of the agreement, GM’s deal with Tengzhong gives the Chinese company access to the engineering work already done on Hummer’s H4 model, originally the HX concept.

And yes, another number, another model. According to Hummer, the H5 will retain Hummer’s off-road status but will place a heavy emphasis on fuel economy. In fact, Hummer is working on hybrid and even all-electric drivetrains.

In order to lend the flashing red-blue light bar and ear-splitting siren more credence the engine specialists from GeigerCars.de installed a supercharged V8 engine with an enlarged displacement of 7.0 liters in the engine bay of the HUMMER H2.

After reprogramming the engine electronics to calibrate the GeigerCars.de power components the supercharged eight-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power output of 700 hp / 515 kW at 5,500 rpm and produces a peak torque of 904 Nm at 4,260 rpm. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a modified four-speed automatic transmission. Despite a curb weight of 3.1 tons the police HUMMER H2 7.0 Kompressor from GeigerCars.de delivers sports car performance: The sprint from 0 – 100 km/h takes just 6.5 seconds, top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h.

This level of performance necessitates numerous GeigerCars.de modifications to the suspension. Immediate eye-catchers are the one-piece forged chrome king-size 10Jx28 wheels with Kumho 325/35 R 28 tires.

In addition GeigerCars.de upgrades the police car with professional suspension and brake tuning. The sport suspension lowers the ride height of the SUV by some 105 millimeters, and offers firmer damper settings. Sport sway bars reduce body roll in fast corners.

In the original 1992 production run, the price of the basic open-top was $40,500 while a fully loaded wagon with all options was $54,700. In 2006, the suggested retail price was $129,399.00 for the open-top; the wagon was $140,796.00, H1 Alpha will be priced $150,975.00. Originally released in the civilian market in 1992, the Hummer H1 owed its birth to the popularity of photos from Operation Desert Storm and the enthusiastic campaign from actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who personally owns several variants of Hummer vehicles. GM announced that 2006 would be the last model year for the Hummer H1, with production winding down in June 2006 due to a new emission law for diesel engine vehicles, which took effect in 2007.

The Hummer H1 has three common variants: a convertible-like soft top, a four-door hard top pickup truck and a Wagon body version. Other less known variants include a two-door pickup truck and a four-door slantback. The convertible/soft top and the station wagon versions were the last ones available in the mass market. The two door and four door pickup versions are only available in fleet livery.

Currently, five engine types and three automatic transmission types can be found in Hummer H1s. The common engine/transmission combinations are:

They also can ford 30 inches (76 cm) of water, climb a 22-inch (56 cm) step, have a stock ground clearance of 16 inches (41 cm).

Is Hummer really trying to cater to a rough and tumble crowd with a wooden wheel edition? No, it’s more prolific than that. Artist Matthew Harrison chose to combine a “mixture of art, engineering and motoring” at the UK’s Zoo Art Fair with a wooden wheeled H3.

According to his press release; Harrison has combined the legendary off-road vehicle with ‘Wild West’ wooden wheels to create a sculpture that is a mixture of art, engineering and motoring. For Harrison, the crux of the ‘Hummer’ is formed by both its ‘being’ and its afterlife.

The colossal Hummer vehicles have a smaller vehicle in their lineup called the H3. It is about 17 inches shorter, 6.5 inches narrower and 6 inches lower than the Hummer H2 model. The 2008 H3 can come as an updated H3x trim and a crew cab pickup truck model of the H3 called the H3t will should be released by September of 2008.

Despite its smaller size, the H3 still is easily recognizable as a Hummer. The vast tires, petite projections and other distinguishable features mask the fact that the H3 is close to size of a midsize sedan. Inside this unique package sits an impressive interior. This impressive piece of machinery reaches 242 horsepower and 242 pounds-feet of torque. The H3 is the first Hummer to offer a manual and automatic transmission with their H3 model. The various technologies that are built into the H3 help this engine really get the most out of its muscle; these technologies include a StabiliTrak electronic stability system and four-wheel-drive. The H3 Alpha package gets a V8 capable of 295 horsepower and allows the H3 to tow up to 6,000 pounds. Hummer claims that H3 models with the Alpha package can go from 0-60 mph in 8 seconds.

Of course, the individuals at Hummer wouldn’t give their customers such an engine without the proper safety gear. The 2008 H3 dons side curtain airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system and an available GPS Navigation system. One free year of the OnStar service is also available on all trims.

All of this equipment nets the H3 great ride quality and the ability to traverse any terrain out there. Just because the 2008 H3 isn’t as big as its Hummer siblings doesn’t mean it cant handle the same things.

The Hummer marquee has revamped their H2 model for the 2008 year. The H2 is the second vehicle released by this former military vehicle manufacturer. The engineers at Hummer addressed all customer input to revamp this vehicle the best they could. The H2 comes as an SUV and the H2 Sport Utility Truck.

One of the biggest improvements buyers will notice is the restyled interior. Hummer decided to make the insides of the H2 match the luxury status the vehicle holds. The SUV and SUT both have a 60/40 split second-row seat and the SUV has an available third row that seats two additional passengers. Everything from the interior finishes, to the architecture and to the dashboard display is totally made over and raised to luxury caliber. There are plenty of standard and optional features to choose from to outfit the revamped interior as well. This powerful setup also allows the H2 to traverse on a multitude of terrains. With a four-wheel-drive system, antilock braking and traction control, the mobility of the H2 seems almost flawless.

None of this comes without the proper protection either. The standard frontal airbags are complemented by new side curtain airbags that deploy from the side windows in all rows of seats. The standard tire pressure monitoring system, optional Rear vision camera system and an electronic stability system only add to the shield the driver gets when driving the H2.

It’s no wonder this vehicle was once used to military uses. The 2008 H2 is sure to dazzle and impress!
